Chelsea`s interest in the Everton centre-back is well documented.

Our first bid rejection, said to be in the region of £20 million, was splashed over many a back page.

Since then the insinuation has been that Chelsea are determined to land their target and will be returning with another bid.

Today it is being reported, by the Mirror that second bid will soon be forthcoming.

Apparently Chelsea will try to get Everton to agree to a deal for the 21-year-old defender by offering the Goodison Park outfit, a figure in the region of £24 million for the player.

The suspicions are that Everton will reject this second offer and insist that if Chelsea wishes to acquire the services of Stones they will need to bid a lot higher, quite probably in excess of £31 million.

Now whether Chelsea will be so obliging remains to be seen!
