It seems Chelsea’s patience with want-away goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has finally run out and the club is looking to cash in before his contract expires next summer.

Having spent three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid, the Belgian spent most of last season coveting a move back to the Spanish capital. Should he make that move this summer, there won’t be many tears shed amongst the Chelsea faithful. There is not much worse for a football supporter than a player whose heart is elsewhere.

According to Matt Law in the same article that cites the possibility of Aleksandr Golovin making the switch to SW6, in the Telegraph, he also discusses Courtois’ possible move away and subsequent replacement.

The club is hoping to get offers in excess of £50m for the Belgian and are looking at Roma’s keeper Alisson Becker as his replacement. Roma value the Brazilian number one at around £60m. Should Courtois go and Alisson arrives, the chances are Antonio Conte will, like Courtois also have moved on. His relationship with players of Brazilian descent has been fractious, to say the least during his two-season spell in London. See Diego Costa, Willian, and Kenedy.

Following Liverpool’s defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League final and Loris Karius’ two howlers, they inevitably will be monitoring the goalkeeping situation as well and could throw a spanner in the works.

However, the time is right for Courtois to go. Another season of indecision over his future is not acceptable. Roman Abramovich and Marina Granovskaia need to move the Belgian on and replace him as soon as the World Cup is over whatever the cost.

It’s over to you. What do you think?

    • totally agree man.. im annoyed that this guy pushed out cech and he not a true blue..

  • Comment you cant force player against his wish let him go asap. we need dedicated player not one legged in one legged out player like him

  • Comment I agree to let him go so we can fine a better replacement. like Orblak, he is good as courstos.

  • Please let him go d blues there are many good goalkeepers around like Jan oblak and the first choice among the Benfica’s goalkeepers he a young star let not waist time for on him before it will be too late

  • I wish he goes now he doesn’t belong to Chelsea a traitor for that matter
He was not ready for us that’s why he keeps his mind away from our club

  • Courtois is not good enough, has never been good enough and has not progressed one bit since he first arrived at the club. Get shot of him and his non committal negative attitude out of our cub as soon as possible. If not, he will just go through the motions again for another year, leave on a free, therefore the club get nothing for him whatsoever and he simply lines his pocket elsewhere. Get rid asap.

  • Courtois is over rated and up himself. De Geah, Lloris, Butland and Pickford in the EPL are all better than him and many keepers abroad. No mention of Athletico wanting him back as Oblak is better. He is reportedly 2nd choice for Real Madrid with Allison being their number one target. Chelsea MUST get shot of this disloyal and over rated keeper before he just walks on a free and feathering his own next next Summer.

  • Real only offered 30 plus for him, no other club wants him, cept PSG. We do not even have a manager, so no player wants to join us either.

  • Courtois is not a true blue. He never looked interested in staying with us. He should go ASAP. Let’s get Gianluigi Donnarumma. I prefer him to Allison Becker.
