The 2016 / 2017 season will, before we know it, be over.

August, when it all kicked off, seems a long way off, the sands of time shift so fast these days in a world that never stops.

Here at Vital Chelsea we`re under no illusions that come May, when we`ll hopefully be parading the Premier League trophy, one John Terry will be acknowledging that his wonderful career at Stamford Bridge is over.

After being awarded a one-year contract at the end of last season, the London Evening Standard is reporting, as we suspected, there will be no new contract offered to the 36-year-old this summer.

But is the time nigh when we shall all bid an emotional farewell to our captain, leader and legend?
Perhaps not!

Our referenced source is suggesting that although there will, undoubtedly, be interest in JT from the MLS and also the financially lucrative Chinese Super League, Chelsea could be ready to tempt JT into staying at the club but in a different role.

According to our source, JT could be offered a coaching or an ambassadorial role at the club.

After spending his entire career at Chelsea Football Club, surely his love for the club can be harnessed and used in appositive manner.

However, the only concern I have is that JT may be reluctant to hang up his boots and will want to continue playing, after all we`re continually being reminded that when it comes to hanging on in there as long as you can, you are a long time retired!
