Chelsea Starting XI vs. Tottenham

As we all recover from the ‘Burnley mauling`, it`s early, but thoughts must turn to our next Premier League encounter. It sees us returning to familiar ground when we face Tottenham Hotspur at their new, temporary home, Wembley Stadium.

It`s a place Chelsea have got to know very well over recent years. It`s a ground that has been very lucky in terms of victories, but for Spurs it`s the opposite. They have struggled to truly conquer their fortunes there.

Following last season`s FA Cup final, it will be Chelsea`s 3rd appearance on the hallowed turf in just 5 games. If Chelsea are to recover from their EPL week 1 defeat, they will need ‘lady luck` to shine on them alone.

Antonio Conte has a lot of work to do with this squad during the week, to muddle together any sort of decent starting XI. The team will be depleted by injury and suspension. Conte will have limited playing resources and he will be trying fit these players into his side

Thibaut Courtois
Cesar Azpilicueta
David Luiz
Antonio Rudiger
Andreas Christensen
Marcos Alonso
N`golo Kante
Victor Moses
Willian
Jeremie Boga
Pedro
Michy Batshuayi
Alvaro Morata
Charley Musonda

Pedro may have recovered from injury which will make choosing the starting line-up slightly easier, but any of that 11 need to be replaced, we are in deep deep trouble.

Chelsea`s potential line-up on the Wembley turf could be Thibaut Courtois in goal, defenders Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, wing-backs Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses, N`golo Kante as holding midfielder behind David Luiz, Willian and Pedro (if fit) with Alvaro Morata leading the line. If Pedro does not make it, Michy Batshuayi plays up front with Morata out wide.

Not too shabby a starting XI, if Conte can work hard in the week as he likes to say, I would suggest all is not totally lost, and the Spurs fans may not have as comfortable an afternoon as they would like to believe
