Chelsea Striker’s Future Isn’t As Clear-Cut As We First Thought

|

Anyone who, like me, was of the opinion that we would be without the services of Alvaro Morata next season, with the Spaniard set to spend it out on loan at Atletico Madrid, may be surprised by what they’re about to read.

I was of the belief that the deal that saw the striker leave Stamford Bridge mid-season covered the rest of the 2018 / 2019 season and all the 2019 / 2020 season.

But, according to the news source, AS, it isn’t as clear-cut as that.

Apparently, the Spanish club have yet to decide whether to re-sign Morata on loan for another season as the loan fee they’ll have to pay amounts to a cool €18 million.

Now whether Morata did enough to impress Atletico Madrid last season remains to be seen.

I guess if the €18 million fee isn’t forthcoming then the answer would be a definite NO!

Now the return of Morata, especially if Chelsea keep Gonzalo Higuain and Olivier Giroud, and also with Tammy Abraham coming back from his loan spell, would see the club overloaded with central strikers.

It could be an interesting few months!
