Chelsea To Follow In The Steps Of Leicester City If We Had Our Way

|

On a weekend when the Premier League has been put on hold to accommodate international football, something interesting caught my eye on the internet.

Up in Leicester, the local media source, the Leicester Mercury, is reporting that the Leicester City fans are continuing their fight to have one of the stands at the King Power Stadium named after Claudio Ranieri, the Italian manager who led them, surprisingly, to the Premier League title, back in 2016.

In my opinion, it would be a fitting tribute to a man who established his credentials, in English football, when he led Chelsea, during Roman Abramovich’s first year as our owner, to second place in the Premier League table, the highest we’d, at the time, ever achieved.

But, their quest got me thinking.

At Stamford Bridge, we’ve already honoured the late Matthew Harding by naming a stand after him, but, if we to allocate either the East or West Stand as being suitable for being named after somebody who has achieved remarkable feats during their time with the club, who would you choose?

Surely, a stand named after an individual is far more attractive than just East or West?

The floor is all yours.
