The quest to add some depth to the midfield element of our squad could be set to be cranked up.

The last few weeks, or so, have seen Chelsea linked with the Leicester City midfielder, Danny Drinkwater.

Reports, as covered by Vital Chelsea, suggested that Chelsea had received a knockback from Leicester City when they submitted what they believed to be a derisory bid.

Today, according to the leading tabloid publication this nation of ours produces, The Sun, Chelsea are now ready to submit an improved bid.

Our referenced source is of the belief that it will be of the magnitude of £32 million for the 27-year-old.

However, whether it proves to be sufficient to prompt Leicester City in to making a sale remains to be seen.

We`re informed, by our source, Drinkwater has no buy-out clause in his contract that Chelsea could activate.

Matters are further complicated by the fact that Leicester City value the player at £40 million and know that with the summer transfer window closing in just over a week, Chelsea could be backed into a corner if the acquisition of Drinkwater is their main goal.
