The festive football programme is upon us and we`re eagerly awaiting the first of the Christmas fixtures when Chelsea welcome Brighton to Stamford Bridge.

Ahead of the fixture we`ve cobbled together some fascinating facts.

? The two clubs have met 8 times, the first fixture, back in January 1933, saw Brighton win, since then Chelsea have won 6 and drawn 1 of the other 7.

? The most recent fixture between the two sides was back in March 1989, when, in a Division Two clash, Chelsea won 1-0 away from home courtesy of a goal from Kevin Wilson.

? In the last 6 meetings between the two sides, Chelsea have kept 5 clean-sheets with Brighton scoring just the 1 goal.

? Chelsea are on a good run of form at Stamford Bridge, winning 5 matches on the trot, since losing 1-0 to Manchester City back in September.

? Of those 5 wins, 3 have been by a 1-0 score-line.

? When it comes to Boxing Day fixtures, Chelsea haven`t lost any of the last 12, winning 7 and drawing 5.

? At the halfway point of the season, Chelsea have amassed 39 points, this time last season, in what was a title winning season, Chelsea had amassed 49 points.

? Brighton arrive at Stamford Bridge, on a poor run of form, the Seagulls have won just 1 of their last 8 games, losing 4 and drawing 3.
