A capacity Stamford Bridge will be hoping that Chelsea’s defence of the FA Cup they won last May, against tonight’s opponents, Manchester United, will continue tonight in a tie that has to be settled at the first time of asking.
This season the rules dictate that there will be no replay if the game is all-square after 90 minutes extra time and penalties will come into play.
For Maurizio Sarri, you get the feeling the next two games are vital with the Carabao Cup Final, at Wembley, next on the Chelsea agenda. If the Italian can engineer a win tonight then some of those dark clouds hanging over his position could drift away.
But Manchester United, having been beaten by a penalty from Eden Hazard, in the final back in May, will be looking for revenge.
