It has to be done doesn’t it, a look at the facts and figures relevant to our fixture with Newcastle this Saturday evening.

As is always the case, ahead of a Chelsea fixture, we’ve dipped into the record and form books to bring you some facts that just might get you excited:-

– When it comes to Premier League games between the two sides at Stamford Bridge, Newcastle have won just once in 21 attempts.

– That solitary victory came in 2012 when Chelsea lost 2-0, since that day there have been a further eight matches in which Chelsea have not lost to Newcastle.

– Chelsea are on a 9 game unbeaten run in the Premier League although six of those have been draws with the other three being victories.

– Although Chelsea are unbeaten in nine Premier League games they are on a four-match run of games without a victory at Stamford Bridge.

– Surprisingly, Chelsea have conceded eight goals in those last four home games whereby they’ve not registered a win, in the four games away from Stamford Bridge they’ve conceded just one.

– After a period whereby Diego Costa had netted just three goals in fourteen appearances, our rugged striker has now scored six goals in his last seven Premier league games.

– In his efforts to lift his side up the table and stave off the threat of relegation, Steve McClaren has used 29 players this season, a Premier League high.

– When it comes to scoring goals away from home, Newcastle struggle. They’ve managed just six goals away from home, the fewest of any side in the top four English divisions.

– Results on the road have been disappointing for Newcastle, the Geordies have lost fifteen of their last eighteen away games, winning two and drawing one.
