Chelsea Were Interested In A Highly-Rated Midfielder But That Interest Appears To Have Waned

Not too long ago, last week to be precise, Chelsea were being linked with the acquisition of a trio of young Portuguese stars.

One of those, Click Here, Joao Felix continues to feature in transfer speculation but, strangely, the rumoured destination of Stamford Bridge appears to have disappeared.

Yesterday, according to the tabloid news source, the Mirror, Barcelona and Real Madrid were now the front-runners to sign the Portuguese U21 international.

Today though, another news source, the Daily Star, reports that the 19-year-old will leave Benfica for either Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester United.

Quite why or how Chelsea’s name has disappeared from the agenda remains to be explained.

But when you dig deeper and find that Benfica will want a staggering £105 million for the youngster, perhaps we’re better off out of what could become a bidding war for a player that may not be suited to the Premier League.
