Mischievous journalism or could there be an element of truth in this piece of speculation?
We are all perfectly aware of, in the past, Bayern Munich’s interest in Chelsea’s teenage winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi.
We thought that any prolonged interest, from the Bavarian club, had been ended when the 19-year-old signed a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.
But is that the case?
The reason I ask is that lurking in the Bavarian media source, Bild, is the insinuation that Hudson-Odoi once again features on Bayern’s wish-list.
Our referenced source implies that the two clubs are in talks regarding Hudson-Odoi going to the Allianz Arena, on a loan deal.
Weighing up the suggestion, you could argue that Hudson-Odoi might benefit from a loan spell what with competition for wide places fierce at Chelsea, with the teenager vying for selection along with Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech.
But would it be any easier getting a start for the current holders of the Champions League?
I fear not.
Watching Hudson-Odoi, in the Tottenham Hotspur game, I have to say he looked confident on the ball but was I the only Chelsea supporter screaming at him to take a defender (or two) on.
Perhaps that will come with time, but time is something that is a scarcity when it comes to Chelsea Football Club.
