At around the same time the first team were leaving the pitch, celebrating a fine win against Stoke City, our youth team were emerging from the Stamford Bridge tunnel to take on Spurs in the second leg of the FA Youth Cup semi-final.

Earlier in the week, despite Chelsea dominating most of the game at White Hart Lane, Spurs had kept themselves in the game by restricting Chelsea to a 2-1 win.

However, at Stamford Bridge last night, justice was seen to be done with the Chelsea youngsters producing a thrilling display to beat Spurs 7-1 on the night and 9-2 on aggregate to claim a place in the FA Youth Cup Final against Manchester City.

The action unfolded as thus:

4 minutes – Chelsea 1 Spurs 0, Ike Ugbo scores finishing off a cross from Reece James. (Aggregate 3-1)

18 minutes – Chelsea 2 Spurs 0 – Trevoh Chalobah, younger brother of Nathaniel, converts a cross from six yards out (Aggregate 4-1)

26 minutes – Penalty saved. Spurs miss a penalty after Mason Mount brings down Sterling, Thompson makes a fine save from Sterling.

37 minutes – Chelsea 3 Spurs 0 – Ike Ugbo nets from the penalty spot after Dujon Sterling had been fouled. (Aggregate 5-1)

56 minutes – Chelsea 4 Spurs 0 – Dujon Sterling scores from six yards (Aggregate 6-1)

62 minutes – Chelsea 5 Spurs 0 – Callum Hudson-Odoi nets after racing through to score (Aggregate 7-1)

68 minutes – Chelsea 6 Spurs 0 – Ike Ugbo completes his hat-trick. (Aggregate 8-1)

70 minutes – Chelsea 6 Spurs 1 – Jack Roles reduces the arrears for Spurs, netting rebound after a save from Thompson. (Aggregate 8-2)

85 minutes – Chelsea 7 Spurs 1 – Juan Castillo finishes off a fine move involving Hudson-Odoi to complete Spurs humiliation. (Aggregate 9-2)
