Called into the Argentine squad, for the round of friendly international matches, Caballero made his debut for Argentina, when they took on Italy at the Etihad Stadium, in Manchester.

On his international debut, Caballero kept a clean-sheet as Argentina beat Italy 2-0, with the goals coming from Banega and Lanzini in the second half.
