Last Sunday, Chelsea ensured they kept their season alive, as far as bringing back a piece of silverware to the club goes, by beating Leicester City, after extra time, to secure an FA Cup semi-final place.

In the subsequent semi-final draw, held immediately after the conclusion of Chelsea`s tie at the King Power Stadium, Chelsea ere given the FA Cup semi-final tie they`d have felt the most comfortable with when the legends that are: Petr Cech and Gianfranco Zola, contrived to pull the names of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur out of the hat first.

Although we`re not taking anything for granted against a Southampton side who could upset the apple-cart, a final against a Jose Mourinho managed Manchester United or another Wembley clash with Tottenham Hotspur are both very appetizing.

However, in being drawn against Southampton an ‘Animal Magic` run of ties was ended abruptly.

In previous rounds, Chelsea had been drawn against Norwich City, Newcastle United, Hull City and Leicester City, or to put it another way, the Canaries, the Magpies, the Tigers and the Foxes which is why I half expected the draw to pair us with Tottenham Hotspur – the Cockerels.

I guess that pleasure is being saved for the final!
