At the end of last month, before Chelsea FC were the poster boys for anti-football, we ran a front page poll asking which one of our loanees would be most likely to succeed at their parent club.

We chose the six most credible candidates. We ran the poll for a couple of days to get a good spread of votes.

The player that came top of the poll headed north of the border in the January transfer window. Charly Musonda Jr. moved to Celtic under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers and polled 38% of the votes cast. He was always a popular figure at Stamford Bridge, but it was felt a spell of regular first team football would benefit him. He`s contracted with Chelsea until the summer of 2022.

There wasn`t a great deal between the remaining five players. Second came Ruben Loftus-Cheek, currently at Crystal Palace. He grabbed 16%, his time at the South London club has been blighted by injury. Nonetheless, he`s made a decent impact, earning a call-up to the full England squad. His contract at Chelsea runs until the summer of 2021.

In joint third place was someone else on loan in the Premier League, Kurt Zouma is also having a good season. He polled 14%, and although his loan club Stoke City aren`t doing that well, he`s having a good season, as we recently discussed. He`s contracted with Chelsea until the summer of 2023.

Joining Zouma on 14% is another EPL loanee, Tammy Abraham. His time with Swansea City under ex-Chelsea coach Paul Clement started really well. The departure of Clement though, saw his his game time and performance levels drop. His contract with Chelsea runs until the summer of 2022.

Fifth place went to a player never trusted by Antonio Conte, despite joining Chelsea for a hefty £33m fee. Michy Batshuayi polled 12%. He got off to a flying start in Germany with Borussia Dortmund, leading many to question why he was allowed to leave London. He`s contracted at Chelsea until the summer of 2021.

The final place in the poll went to Kenedy with 6%. He`s currently up at Newcastle United with Rafa Benitez. He`s only been there since the end of January but is already clocking up good game time, which can only be good for his development. He contracted with Chelsea until the summer of 2020.

After yesterday’s dismal performance any one of those could work their way into the current starting XI. Let’s see how many actually make it when they return to Cobham next summer.
