Chelsea’s Longest Serving Player Leaves The Club For Pastures New

|

It’s a quiz question I’m not afraid to admit I didn’t know the answer to!

Yesterday, Chelsea centre-back Tomas Kalas left Chelsea to sign for Bristol City on a permanent transfer. (As reported by The Sun).

But did you know that before Kalas put pen-to-paper on a contract at the west country club he was, in fact, the longest serving player at Stamford Bridge?

Kalas joined Chelsea, from Sigma Olomouc, back in 2010 for a transfer fee of £5.2 million, but in his NINE years with the club he was to make just FOUR first team appearances, a remarkable statistic.

During his time with Chelsea, the 26-year-old Czech international spent time on loan at no less than SIX clubs:

• Sigma Olomuc
• Vitesse
• FC Koln
• Middlesbrough
• Fulham

and

• Bristol City

After spending last season at Ashton Gate, Kalas obviously did enough to convince Bristol City that they wanted him as part of their future plans.

Kalas becomes the second Chelsea player to join Bristol City on a permanent basis with Jay Dasilva, who was also on loan with the club, putting pen-to-paper on a contract earlier in the week.

Here at Vital Chelsea, we’d like to take this opportunity to wish Tomas all the best at his new bode.

However, his departure leaves one question unanswered, if our longest serving player has left who inherits that mantle now?

Please feel free to fill our comment facility with your answers.
