Transfer tittle-tattle relating to the signing of the Senegalese goalkeeper, Eduoard Mendy, has been very prominent for the last couple of weeks.
It has gotten to the stage where that sneaky feeling that the deal may not go ahead is starting to surface.
But, according to Football Insider 24/7, the deal is being held up by Mendy’s current club, Rennes.
Seemingly, the French club are looking for Chelsea to include two players in the deal for the 28-year-old.
One of these is our highly-rated young defender Fikayo Tomori, whilst the other remains unknown, at the time of writing.
Sat here in the editorial chair, I had hoped that the deal to sign Mendy would have been completed in time for him to play a part in the fixture against Liverpool, this Sunday.
At this rate, we will be lucky to see him in action the following weekend!

I do not think they want Mendy ie judging from Lampard’s comments (volte face) that he is happy with Kepa when all along he has bemoaned lack of quality in Kepa. Lampard may want those funds for Mendy to be channelled elsewhere eg towards the of purchase of Rice or another goalie such as Pope. if the deal involves Tomori and knowing that Lampard has a soft spot for English players then that deal may not materialise
According to L’Equipe they want Giroud
Giroud won’t go to Rennes.
If we are going to send a player on loan there, it would be Tomori.
This deal has not hit any snag, the media are trying to sell papers, now they are boring.
Lampard wants another keeper… The way he left kepa out of some matches last season shows he really wants another one.
Edouard Mendy will be a Chelsea player very soon… That’s for sure…
Just hope he uses his strengths to the maximum here.
Meanwhile, Chelsea need a keeper to push teams above us.
