Last season Lady Luck quite possibly smiled on Chelsea Football Club when it came to injuries.

It`s probably fair to say that we had fewer than most of our top-flight rivals, thereby enabling Antonio Conte to field the fewest number of players by a Premier League side.

Well this summer that same Lady Luck must be on holiday!

With the season yet to start, it is looking very much as if Chelsea will be without three of the first-team squad, when the starting eleven for the season opener against Burnley is selected.

Eden Hazard cruelly cut down in his prime with an ankle fracture, whilst training when on international duty with Belgium, is making good progress with his rehabilitation but isn`t expected to play until September.

Pedro savagely maimed by the Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, has far more than concussion with it being discovered the collision caused a fractured cheekbone and eye-socket. Pedro won`t restart training for another week and will be sporting a Zorro style face mask when he does.

Tiemoue Bakayoko, after having minor knee surgery before joining Chelsea, isn`t expected to be ready until Chelsea take on Tottenham Hotspur, at Wembley.

A tale of woe that we hope doesn`t get any worse!
