A common theme, in the press this morning, relates to the fact that Ashley Cole has yet to be offered a new deal by Chelsea and that no talks have been planned.

Cole, a key figure in our Champions League and FA Cup successes last season, is widely viewed as one of the, or the, best in his position in the world.

Currently Cole has a year left on his current contract but there are fears that the full-back, who will be 32 in December, will be allowed to run down his contract and leave for free next summer.

Would we be right to surmise that it`s quite possible that the club perceives Ryan Bertrand as a natural replacement or should the club do everything in their power to ensure that talks with Cole become a priority and that the left-back is given a new deal.

Your thoughts on this subject would be most appreciated.
