The performance the team gave against Crystal Palace wasn`t acceptable.

The side looked dis-jointed, dis-interested and just not up for the game, especially when they were up against it when Palace led for a second time and were urged on by a vociferous crowd.

Several of our members criticized the performance of Michy Batshuayi, stating that he wasn`t up to the task.

But in fairness was he given the opportunity to shine, did Chelsea play to his strengths or did Michy have to adapt his game to the chaos that was going on around him?

When Antonio Conte decided to ring the changes and Batshuayi was hauled off, his actions were those of a frustrated man.

However, when pushed about Batshuayi`s poor reaction at being substituted, Conte wasn`t prepared to criticize the striker, simply remarking,

“I didn`t see this.

“But it is normal to be angry after a bad performance – but every player had a bad performance.”

And when pushed on Batshuayi`s ability, the boss further added,

“I trust in every player and try to give everyone the opportunity to take the chance. But also because we have Morata and then Batshuayi. The performance of the whole team was bad. Not one or two players.

Exactly!
