Conte Proud of Christensen Despite His Mistake

Last night, when Andreas Christensen made the mistake that saw Iniesta pass the ball for Lionel Messi to net the equaliser, I felt gutted for the lad.

Since it was decided that Christensen would remain at Stamford Bridge this season, as opposed to going out on loan, the young Dane has come on leaps and bounds.

At just 21-years-of-age, Christensen has made 31 appearances for the club this season.

However, despite seeing the youngster make a mistake that could prove so costly, Antonio Conte had nothing but praise for the young Dane remarking to the media afterwards,

‘It was an incredible performance.

‘We are talking about a very young player. It is great that he is able to play this game with maturity and personality. He was one of the best players.

‘It is very difficult to mention one player but I think Christensen played a top game and I was very pleased with his performance.

‘We made one mistake but we know against these opponents and players like Messi, Iniesta and Luis Suarez, if you make a mistake you pay.’

Christensen will learn from the error and go on to become an even better player, it was, sadly, just one of those unfortunate things.
