According to one leading tabloid publication, Chelsea are closing in on a deal to bring a player from Antonio Conte`s former club, Juventus, to Stamford Bridge.

The good folk of The Sun are reporting that the club are closing in on a deal to sign Claudio Marchisio.

Marchisio, now 31-years-of-age, is a midfielder who has spent his entire career playing for the Turin based club.

However, this season has seen the player used mostly as a substitute, giving reason to believe that a move could be on the cards.

According to our source, Chelsea have had an initial bid turned down, a bid said to be of the magnitude of £17 million.

However, our source suggests a deal could happen this summer.

  • Wonder how many players will be linked to us, can Marchisio withstand the pace & stamina needed to survive in the PL? I doubt if that’s the way forward, if this deal can go through why did we release Ivanovic who is roughly of the same age move on? Honestly I like Diego Laxalt of Genoa linked to Chelsea on another thread, he’s younger fitter & got skills & stamina.
