Conte – This Could Be The Last Time

|

This Wednesday evening could, quite probably, be the last time we see Antonio Conte in the managerial dug-out, at Stamford Bridge.

Speculation has been rife, for months, the Italian will be packing his bags and saying cheerio at the end of the season.

Although this season hasn’t lived up to expectations, with our defence of the 2016 / 2017 title not being up to scratch, Conte has never lost the support of the Chelsea faithful.

Whether Chelsea are playing home or away, at some time during the game the vociferous chant of,

“Antonio, Antonio, Antonio”

Can be heard reverberating around the stands.

If a poll were carried out amongst the Chelsea support, I’m convinced that the majority would opt for Conte to remain in charge at the club.

But, that’s not how Chelsea works is it?

Those in the corridors of real power have their own agenda, their own rules and a penchant for operating a hire them and fire them policy if the standards fall slightly below those expected.

Therefore, pay close attention to Antonio, on Wednesday evening, it could, I fear, be the last time we get to see the Italian gesticulating manically from the technical area and I’m praying we get to see one last over-the-top celebration when Chelsea score, with Antonio diving into the East Stand Lower.

Is it too much to ask for?
