With a comfortable 3-1 win over Newcastle achieved on Saturday, Chelsea can look forward to Champions League action in midweek when they entertain Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge.

Ahead of the game Antonio Conte, according to the Express, has issued a plea to the Chelsea board.

Conte, aware of the transfer speculation surrounding our Belgian duo of Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois, has asked the board to ensure that new contracts are sorted for the duo before they head off to the 2018 World Cup, in Russia.

The boss, talking about the duo, is quoted by our source as having remarked,

“Yes, I want them to sign new deals.

“Thibaut is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Maybe the best. And then there is Eden. The club knows the importance of these two players and they are happy to play for this club.

“I will be very happy when they can have this deal. These two are great players because they have a lot of space for improvement. They are very young and it will be great to keep them with us.

“The World Cup is the best tournament in the world. You can show your skills and show that you are a top player.”

Unfortunately, the biggest tournament in international football can act as the perfect stage for the big European clubs to hack into the transfer market.

The sooner Chelsea get those deals done the better!
