Apart from the ball hitting the back of the Watford net four times, on Saturday, my abiding memory from the game was Antonio Conte crowd-surfing.
Following a run of three-games without a victory, the relief at seeing Cesar Azpilicueta put Chelsea 3-2 up was clear for all to see when Conte, in the manic style we became so appreciative of last season, plunged head first into the crowd in the lower tie of the East Stand.
Since his arrival, in the summer of 2016, Conte`s relationship with the Chelsea support has been special, on match-days his name reverberates around the ground in appreciation for what he`s done for the club.
Talking about his appreciation of the support the Chelsea fans have given him, Conte has remarked on Chelsea.com,
“I think my relationship with the fans is incredible.
“They always support me – from my first game against West Ham, they prepared a big Italian flag in the stands. I think the feeling with the fans is incredible and I feel pressure to repay this. They call my name, and me and my players want to give great satisfaction to our fans because they deserve this.
“I trust in my work, I give all myself in my work and I feel the pressure to give satisfaction to my players, our fans and the club, because I ask a lot of myself.”
Antonio Conte, definitely one of us!
