Conte’s Pre-Match Press Conference v Liverpool (h)

|

This lunch-time, Antonio Conte held his obligatory pre-match conference ahead of the visit of Liverpool, to Stamford Bridge, this Sunday.

With the manager facing an array of journalists, two questions were inevitably asked.

The first related to his position at the club, which prompted Conte to amusingly respond,

“I find it very strange to have a season where you have the same question in every press conference.

“My answer is simple I have a contract with Chelsea and I’m doing my work every day.

The second question, related to somebody we once had on our books, but let go, the prolific goal-scorer Mo Salah with Conte remarking about the player who has scored 43 goals this season:

“We are talking about a really good player. I knew him when he played in Italy but to it would’ve been very difficult to predict this kind of season for Salah.

“He was a good technical player but this season I’m seeing him be very clinical.”

Before adding,

“I’ve never spoken about Salah and Chelsea, the situation was clear and nobody asked me about him. You give me a lot of responsibility already and now this I don’t want to take it.”

Intriguing!

Is it me or do Conte’s press conferences not contain that aura of invincibility that was present last season?

Despite ‘doing his work every day’ I get the impression he’d rather be working elsewhere, but only time will tell if I’m correct!
