The 2017 / 2018 season lurches from one crisis to another.

After shooting ourselves in the foot back in the summer transfer window selling both Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic, Chelsea`s success this season has been sporadic at best.

With the title defence proving to be shambolic and with our hopes of playing Champions League football next season, fading fast, it`s not a good time to be a Chelsea supporter.

But, we`ve been through worse times than this and, hopefully, we`ll bounce back.

Following the huge setback that is a loss, at home, to Tottenham Hotspur, the first since 1990, Antonio Conte faced up to the Match of the Day team.

The boss had this to say about the game remarking,

‘The goal at the end of the first half it wasn’t good for us and our confidence. We deserved to go in 2-0 up but football is this and Eriksen scored a fantastic goal.

‘Second half we tried to score again but Tottenham have been more clinical than us. In this season we are not so clinical and then we lost the game.”

We`re not so clinical because we sold out best striker!

As for the sloppiness from Victor Moses, that resulted in Tottenham scoring an equaliser in first-half stoppage time, Conte further added,

‘I was a footballer, it can happen where you lose the ball. It’s not the time to put responsibility on a player. We must be in this situation together.”

And on those fading hopes of playing in the Champions League next season, Conte finished with,

‘For sure we lost a great chance today to reduce the gap with Tottenham. There are seven games to go and we have to do our best until the end. At the end of the season you finish in the position you deserve.’

You do but a club of our size will be looking for someone to blame and we know what the usual resulting action is don`t we!
