Ahead of the US tour fixture against Paris St-Germain tonight, Diego Costa has given a wonderful insight into his game.

In an enchanting exchange of questions and answers with the journalists attending the pre-match press conference and as covered by The Sun, Diego spoke about a variety of subjects.

One of those being his first season at Stamford Bridge and the plethora of goals he scored, with Diego commenting,

“Of course I can be better. Last season I suffered with injuries and this time around, God willing, I hope to remain fit, enjoy a good season and hopefully pick up some trophies.

“I scored more goals in Madrid. Twenty is a decent total but I`ll be trying to improve on that.

“Let`s hope that my goals help us to win some silverware. There`s no value in scoring goals and then not winning a trophy.

“If the goals do flow, then that is great, but winning things is far more important than your personal goals tally.”

An admirable philosophy and if Diego can steer clear of injuries, particularly that troublesome hamstring one that seems to flare up with regularity, it`ll be interesting to see how many goals he can score this coming term.

Naturally the question of his rumbustious nature of play was fielded with Diego further adding,

“I won`t change my style. I don`t think I`ve done anything malicious. I`ve only ever had one red card in my entire career so why change anything?

“I`ve always played this way for all the sides I`ve been with. I feel very much at ease and the manager hasn`t said anything to me about it.”

But, surprisingly, the physical nature of his game, although Diego excels at it, isn`t something he enjoys with Diego responding,

“The physical side is not what I enjoy most. Goals are what count along with fighting hard, giving everything and working hard.

“It doesn`t matter if defenders want to battle with me or not, I will be just trying to do my job.”

He may not enjoy it but it is an aspect of his game that he excels at.

Here`s hoping that 2015 / 2016 is a memorable season for a player you`d definitely like next to you in the trenches.
