Watching the fixture against Barcelona, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, seeing Diego Costa being withdrawn with what looked like a recurrence of a hamstring injury left me a little concerned.

The back-end of last season saw Diego troubled with hamstring problems, problems he arrived at the club at and problems that were managed throughout what turned out to be a very successful season.

The hope was, when the 2014 / 2015 season ended, the extra rest Diego would have, with no international football for him to participate in, would see the niggly problem corrected and we`d get a season free of hamstring problems in 2015 / 2016.

But, on the evidence of last night, that seems to be far from the case.

However, speaking to the US media and reported by The Sun, Jose Mourinho is of the belief that his star striker may be alright for the Community Shield this Sunday, against Arsenal, with Jose`s comments reading,

“Diego felt a little thing in his hamstring.

“We believe just a feeling, no more than that, but we have to wait.”

Wait we do, as we`ve seen in the past hamstring problems can be a lingering problem.

But if Diego is to be blighted with a similar problem to last season then we could see more of Radamel Falcao than, perhaps, some people anticipated, which makes it even more important that the Colombian hits the ground running and regains that form that made him so clinical in front of goal.

Otherwise???????well you can draw your own conclusions.
