Image for Crespo denies that he wants to leave

Reports earlier this week suggested that our Argentine striker, Hernan Crespo, could be out of Chelsea as he is unhappy at his lack of playing time. Inevitably, there were rumours of a bust-up between Crespo and José Mourinho.

But, speaking as he joined up with his country ahead of this weekend?s England ? Argentina game, Crespo emphatically denied the rumours. ?There is no way we have fallen out. No way. We didn’t have an argument, definitely not. That did not happen.?

As night follows day, the paper of record when it comes to rubbish Chelsea conjecture, the Daily Mirror sensationally rubbed together a set of possibilities and came up with a preposterous scenario whereby Arjen Robben would leave for Spurs, Crespo could go to Spain, and Chelsea would recruit Spanish duo Fernando Torres and Joaquin. All this during the January transfer window.

Not so shouts Crespo. ?I want to stay at Chelsea. You must not believe I will leave in January.? Ah well, it was in the Daily Mirror, after all, the paper that sensationally decided that Athletic Club de Bilbao was interested in Glen Johnson. That?s the same Athletico that only recruits Basque players.

Crespo has recently stressed how happy he is with life in London. ?I am very happy there. The group of players is great and the manager is great.? He added that ?Mourinho is one of the great managers in the world. He is a good, good person and I am very happy to work with him and our relationship is good.?

Of course, Crespo would like to play more games. ‘People think that if you sit on the bench you will not have a lot of patience. But I do have patience. If I have five, 10 or 90 minutes, I will always do my best. There is no problem with that. Am I frustrated? No. I know that I am at Chelsea. If I want to play for a small team then I will always get 90 minutes but when you play at a great team like Chelsea you need to be patient. The season is still early.?

Spoken with a loyalty that we like to hear. Let?s hope that he gets a chance in the next game and plays a blinder.

On second thoughts, since Crespo?s next game is for Argentina against England ?
