Croatian Midfielder Who Rejected Manchester United Move Linked With Chelsea

|

A piece of speculation, appearing in the media this morning, links Chelsea with a player who is currently on the books of Real Madrid.

But, whereas in the past this might have excited me, the news this morning leaves me feeling a little wary.

According to the European news source, calciomercato, Chelsea are interested in Madrid’s 24-year-old Croatian midfielder, Mateo Kovacic.

But, my fears are that any deal for a Real Madrid player could invoke that old chestnut, player-exchange, even more so with Real Madrid being linked with Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.

However, there’s something interesting about Kovacic that is also being reported by our referenced source.

The suggestion is being bandied about that the player was wanted by our former boss, Jose Mourinho, at Manchester United.

But, seemingly, Kovacic has rejected any chance of moving to Old Trafford with our source implying the Croatian doesn’t like the style of football Mourinho has Manchester United playing.

With Maurizio Sarri intent on introducing a fast, attacking style of play to our club, Kovacic could be interested in a move to West London.

But, what are your views on the subject matter?

Is Kovacic the kind of signing that excites you?

Can you see Kovacic coming to Stamford Bridge as part of a player-exchange deal involving either Hazard or Courtois?
