The plethora of festive fixtures continues with a tough away game against Crystal Palace.
After surviving the threat presented by Watford, in their Boxing Day fixture, taking the three points on offer courtesy of a 2-1 victory, Chelsea enter this game knowing that a win would close the gap on the three teams above them whilst also extending the gap between ourselves and Arsenal, who sit just below us in the table.
The results went very kindly for Chelsea yesterday (Saturday), with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur being beaten, heavily, by Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively. The only downside being that Liverpool thrashing Arsenal takes Jurgen Klopp’s nine points clear at the top of the table.
Today, at Selhurst Park, Chelsea will be looking to get revenge for the defeat in the reciprocating fixture last season, when they became the first side that Crystal Palace had taken a point off all season.
But it is a game that will be a challenge, Roy Hodgson’s side, in their day, are quite capable of beating anyone and Chelsea will have to be aware of the threat the likes of Zaha and Townsend present.
As is the norm, we’re running our usual Match Day Moments feature where we invite you to leave your thoughts on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to:
1 – The build-up to the big game.
2 – The starting eleven selected by Mauricio Sarri.
3 – The action as it happens at Selhurst Park.
4 – Your thoughts in the immediate period after the final whistle sounds.
Let’s hope we’re all smiles come late afternoon.
