Deal Linking Chelsea With An Out Of Contract Defender Could Be Scuppered By Salary Expectations

|

There is another piece of interesting speculation, lurking in the media, about a possible deal for a player we have mentioned before.

Regular visitors to Vital Chelsea, may recall an article related to David Alaba – chelsea-linked-with-a-move-for-bayern-munich-contract-rebel – in which we covered the fact the 28-year-old defender could be available on a free transfer this summer.

In an update, provided by The Mirror any possible deal has taken a twist.

Chelsea are just one of four big European teams interested in the versatile German defender, but the inference is that any proposed deal would make Alaba the highest paid player at Stamford Bridge.

Our referenced source is reporting that the player would be looking for a weekly wage of £350,000.

It is an astronomical amount and even though Alaba would bring some extra quality to the side you have to consider whether the bean counters, at Stamford Bridge, would be prepared to upset the current financial equilibrium to sign the player.

I suspect any deal will not happen but what are your views on the above subject matter.
