Defender Wants To Remain at Chelsea And Flourish Under Sarri

|

Amongst the multitude of Chelsea related news that appeared in the media yesterday was something relating to our Brazilian defender, David Luiz.

The 31-year-old defender played little part in the second half of the 2017 / 2018 season with injury often being cited as the reason for his absence.

However, many suspect that wasn’t the sole reason for his absence with rumours circulating that the defender had fallen out with Antonio Conte over tactics.

The circumstances seemed to dictate that David Luiz would be heading out of the Stamford Bridge exit this summer.

But, that doesn’t now appear to be the case with the respected news vehicle, the Telegraph, reporting that the player, following the appointment of Maurizio Sarri, would like to stay and remain part of the Chelsea set-up.

To us, here at Vital Chelsea, we feel that’s good news.

If Sarri can get David Luiz performing the way he did in our title-winning season of 2016 / 2017 it’ll be a win-win situation.

Sarri may also be aware that David Luiz is perfectly adept at bringing the ball out of defence to launch the quick breaks that Sarri’s teams like to utilize.

Furthermore, David Luiz is also a natural leader, something we felt was missing at some stages last season as Chelsea’s defence of the title floundered.

Here at Vital Chelsea, we’d be interested to hear your views on the above subject matter.
