Coming off the bench today, did Michy Batshuayi have a point to prove?
The young Belgian striker has come in for some stick recently, even more so when he`s started the game and things, with Chelsea playing poorly, haven`t gone his way.
Today though, the young Belgian striker was all smiles at the final whistle.
Coming on to replace a jaded looking Alvaro Morata, Batshuayi produced a fine header to make it 2-1 and was then on hand, deep into stoppage time, to make it 4-2, stabbing home a loose ball after a calamitous piece of defending by the Watford defence.
Those two goals make it a total of 6 goals Batshuayi has scored coming off the substitutes bench since joining Chelsea, only Olivier Giroud, of Arsenal, can better that.
Following the win that ends a run of three games without a win, had this to say to Sky Sports,
‘Starting on the bench is a difficult moment for me but I stay focused every day to work hard and train hard. Today I did my job and scored two goals.
‘I’m very happy to take the three points in a difficult moment for the team.’
Well played Michy, you deserve the accolades coming your way this afternoon.
