As the international fixtures continue to grab our attention, the beleaguered Diego Costa was in action for Spain yesterday.

Playing against Macedonia, Diego Costa helped himself to an international goal, tapping in a cross from Isco, as the Spaniards took a 2-0 lead and eventually hung on for a 2-1 win.

But whilst Diego would have welcomed a return to action and getting on the score-sheet, the small matter of his long-term future was always going to be a viable media question.

Diego though was giving very little away and the 28-year-old, who was told by text message he was not part of Chelsea`s plans next season, came up with a very coy answer, remarking to those within earshot,

‘I don’t know about my future. I have a contract with Chelsea and they are the ones who know what they will do with me.

‘I have to wait to see what decision my club makes.’

For the record, Spain continue to lead Group G after the win in Skopje and look set for the finals in Russia, in 2018.
