Draw For Carabao Cup Gives Chelsea An Interesting Home Draw

|

Last season, the Carabao Cup almost provided Chelsea with a piece of silverware.

In the final against Manchester City, Chelsea silenced the doubters by providing City with a tough game and could even have won it if Eden Hazard, as he burst through, hadn’t of been wrongly given offside in the last few moments, where was VAR when you needed it?

Of course, the game will always be remembered for Kepa refusing to be substituted as Maurizio Sarri sought to bring on Willy Caballero, a penalty shoot-out expert. The rest, as they say, is history.

Last night the draw for the 3rd round of the competition was made, the stage at which clubs, like us, who are involved in European competition enter.

The draw provided Chelsea with a home tie against the winners of the only outstanding tie of the 2nd round between Grimsby Town and Macclesfield Town. The tie between the two was abandoned on Tuesday evening after torrential rain made the pitch unplayable.

The tie will take place in the week commencing 23 September and should be a tie that Chelsea should win comfortably, but you just never know!
