It appears that somebody Chelsea signed in the summer, could have been playing for England in the forthcoming international friendly fixtures against Germany (Friday) and Brazil (Tuesday).

However, far from jumping at the opportunity, it seems the player in question decided the time was not ripe.

The player in question is, of course Danny Drinkwater.

Drinkwater, back in the summer, joined Chelsea from Leicester City, hoping to re-establish the midfield partnership he had with N`Golo Kante when Leicester City won the Premier League title back in 2015 / 2016.

Unfortunately, Drinkwater has struggled with an injury since signing for Chelsea and has only recently started to get game-time.

Therefore, when the opportunity came, Drinkwater informed Gareth Southgate that he was not yet fit to play, a decision that Gareth Southgate fully understood.

Hopefully, Danny will get his chance to shine in a Chelsea shirt soon and force his way into the England set-up.
