On paper an opening Premier League fixture away to somewhere like Burnley is fraught with danger.

Travelling to take on a newly promoted side, in their own backyard, is always going to be a pressure situation.

Last night Turf Moor was full to capacity as the locals sought a memorable win over a side that is the favourite to win the Premier League and is also recognised as one of the best in Europe.

The fact that we fell a goal behind, early-on, only seemed to stir the locals even more as the noise levels crept up to a crescendo.

However, our quick response, whereby we were only a goal behind for three minutes, saw Burnley over-whelmed by our slick football, some of which was simply sublime.

After the crowd had gone home with the Burnley fans disappearing into the night and the Chelsea support making the long trip home, the Burnley manager, dubbed the ‘Ginger Mourinho` had this to say about us,

“I think they have all the boxes ticked – power, quality and can hurt you any different way.”

“We scored and they got angry. We will learn from this.”

Indeed, Burnley will and on the evidence of last night, they won`t be the only Premier League team to be carved apart by a resurgent Chelsea.
