There could be some movement on the goalkeeping front at Chelsea before the transfer window closes.

An article in the sports pages of The Sun infers that Eduardo is looking to leave Chelsea Football Club.

Eduardo, following the departure of Asmir Begovic and on the back of a contract extension, believed that he would be the back-up to Thibaut Courtois.

Unfortunately, the signing of Willy Caballero scuppered those plans.

Now the Portuguese keeper, who was part of the Portuguese squad that won the Euro 2016 Finals last summer, has concerns about his predicament costing him his place in the Portuguese World Cup squad heading to Russia next summer.

Eduardo is currently the back-up keeper to Rui Patricio and being out of the picture could see his World Cup dream shattered.

If Eduardo does leave, Conte`s already thin squad could be stretched further.

However, our source does suggest that Chelsea could seek an experienced keeper to replace Eduardo, with 41-year-old Shay Given being mentioned.

  • I think we should let TC go, and make him 1st choice. Not that I would even know if he’s a good keeper, I just haven’t liked anything about TC since day one.

  • This is the sort of stuff that really bring ups serious questions about the ability and/or foresight of the decision makers on our board. It was obvious as day that it made no sense to have 3 foreign based keepers on our first team and now we are facing another exit to an already obscenely thin squad. This of course means we will now need to spend scarce funds, resources and time searching for replacement ( now they apparently have seen the obvious and are looking at shay Give .. a n association trained keeper) while we have already sent someone like Jamal Blackburn ( who is younger, would have cost us nothing and is one of our academy products who we should have been trying to nurture all along) out on loan. Does this strike anyone as the way an organized board of a well run club handles its business..Seriously???

  • But GabeU… That’s exactly what it is – a BUSINESS. They run this thing more like the East India Trading Company, than an actual sports team. In any business, there are always those whose priorities don’t match up well with the actual purpose of the entity.

  • Speaking of HG players RLC had a good game yesterday for Palace . But to the keeper issue, the lack of interest on TC’s face yesterday would have me worried , id have more faith in Willy than him right now.

  • I have always maintained that TC is not Cech and never will he be? The moment our defence crumbles, he becomes useless.

  • Yeah Jerry. Cech always bailed us out when we were in trouble, TC is so weak mentally that he is even broken before the team melt down

  • I’m still struggling to understand why NM should be sold at all, worst of all to MAN U which have solved a huge problem they have been having in that for Seasons.
