Everton v Chelsea – Premier League – Match Day Moments

|

In what can best be described as a hectic fixture schedule, a matter of days after successfully completing their Champions League group, Chelsea are up in the north-west to take on an unpredictable Everton side.

I say unpredictable because they started the season brilliantly and were being talked about as possible contenders for a top-four finish.

However, that form has tailed off and Carlo Ancelotti’s side have dropped to ninth place in the table.

But Goodison Park remains a difficult venue to visit and Chelsea will need to be on top of their game to earn a result that will keep their own hopes of a tilt at the title viable.

As usual, we are running our Match Day Moments feature where we invite you to offer your thoughts on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to:

1 – The build-up to the game.

2 – The starting XI selected by Frank Lampard.

3 – The action as it happens at Goodison Park.

4 – Your thoughts in the immediate period following the sounding of the final whistle.

Here is hoping we are all smiles come the final whistle and our ongoing unbeaten run has been extended.

0-1 at HT. Pickford’s outstanding saves have kept us behind after we made a slow start.

We need to give it 10 more minutes & then Pulisic on i feel.

Pulicis rested today …. Abraham for Havertz … Gilmour might have been a better choice

    last 10 min … i’ll settle for a point now 🙁

This has been a disjointed performance … so many misplaced passes & the like … without Ziyech, CHO & Pulisic we did not have that bite, though Reece james & Mount were unfortunate not to score.

All long balls in now …. we seem to have no other plan

0-1 it ends … bad 3 points dropped in a season that is this competitive for top-4 places.

Ofcos every team can lose…. But there is something I keep saying…. Fans, opposition fans, pundits always claim Chelsea have the best squad or second best squad in the Epl.

It pains me a lot, when ever I hear or read it… Cos Chelsea are light… Just throw a little injury at the front or midfield, you will see how light Chelsea is.
    We should have 7 forwards and 7 midfielders… Not 6 and 6.

To play in Ucl and Epl fighting for league and results in Ucl is tasking… Other teams like United, Liverpool, Spurs… Has 13-14 fowards and midfielders. Why should we have only 12? Where Odoi and Gilmour completed the 12?

Teams like City with foden, United with Greenwood etc, you can’t hear the nonsense we hear every day if Odoi misses the starting eleven… As if Bayern stationed a bus outside Cobham waiting for him to enter.

Lampard has built this team and its creativity is on the wings… We were struggling to win games until ziyech, pulisic Odoi started playing, which made room for Chiwell and James. Mount and Kovacic were also running towards the wings to create overload with them… And deliver a cross.

Against Everton 3 of this team’s winger were injured, that stifled the fullbacks… Even you played another 30 mins of that game, Chelsea will not score…. Maybe Lampard will find another way… But this is difficult.

I was asking for one more winger and one more defensive midfielder… Now just wait for another injury in the midfield, then Chelsea will look bare.
