Expensive 20-Year-Old Italian International Interests Chelsea

|

It’s all quiet on the SW6 front, at the moment, when it comes to transfer-talk.

In fact, speculation isn’t, at this time of the year, as prominent as we’d have hoped.

Perhaps, we can blame the forthcoming World Cup for that.

However, one piece of transfer speculation has emerged today and it relates to Chelsea being interested in an international midfielder-cum-winger.

According to the news source, Talksport, Chelsea are looking at bringing Federico Chiesa to Stamford Bridge.

Chiesa, just 20-years-of-age, is in the books of Fiorentina and shot to prominence last season.

His displays caught the attention of the Chelsea scouts and our source is implying that Chelsea were looking to strike a deal back in April when a transfer fee of £44 million was suggested.

However, Fiorentina have now hiked his fee to a phenomenal £62 million after three other Premier League clubs, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool expressed interest.

There’s also the possibility that Chiesa may stay in Italy with Inter Milan and Napoli also showing an interest.

Vital Chelsea Verdict – Although Chiesa looks to have a fantastic career ahead of him, our feeling is that the quoted fee, £62 million, is over the top for a player who hasn’t proven himself in the rough and tumble of the Premier League.

Chelsea already appear well stocked in the winger department with Hazard, Willian and Pedro, although the reputed interest in Chiesa could be an indication that one of the quoted trio may have played his last game for Chelsea. If we were to rate the chances of Chiesa coming to Stamford Bridge, we’d score it a lowly 20%, although we could be wrong.
