FA Cup Semi-Final – Chelsea 2 Southampton 0 – Match Stats

Chelsea, after a competent display against Southampton, whereby goals from Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata were enough to give the Blues a 2-0 win, will face Manchester United in the 2018 FA Cup Final.

The final will see Chelsea cross swords with Jose Mourinho again whilst also looking towards the opposition starting eleven for the former Chelsea trio of Romelu Lukaku, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic.

There’s every chance it will be Antonio Conte’s final game in charge of Chelsea and it presents the Italian with the perfect chance to present the Chelsea faithful with the perfect going away present.

Against Southampton, Chelsea always looked the more competent team but couldn’t find a way through in the first-half.

The breakthrough came in the 46th minute when Giroud, fed by Eden Hazard, somehow managed to evade the attempts of four Southampton defenders to poke the ball into the net.

The second goal came in the 82nd minute when Morata, on as a substitute for Giroud, rose to meet a superb cross from Cesar Azpilicueta to head home.

The final will take place on 19 May, bring it on!
