Over in the US last night, our Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, made his debut for Chelsea.

On as a second half substitute for Diego Costa, Falcao looked fit, showed some classy touches, produced some decent movement and managed to score, sublimely, his penalty kick in the penalty shoot-out that saw Chelsea beat Paris St Germain 6-5 on penalties after the game had ended in a 1-1 draw.

Also making an appearance last night was our other Colombian, Juan Cuadrado, a player who came to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window but a player who has yet to really make an impression in a Chelsea shirt.

Last night, Cuadrado, perhaps typifying his Chelsea career at the moment, missed his penalty in the aforementioned shoot-out, but Falcao has every confidence that his Colombian team-mate will come good, with the Standard quotng Falcao as having remarked,

‘Juan is a happy person with very good qualities and skills and he only needs time to grow in this club and be important, like he was when playing in Italy.

‘He is a fantastic player and everybody supports him because all the players and coaches know about his quality.

‘He is so quick over a few metres and I think this season will be a good one for him.’

Let`s hope Radamel is right, if we are to challenge for honours on all fronts then we can`t afford to carry any passengers this season.
