Announcing the signing of Radamel Falcao yesterday has more-or-less condemned young Patrick Bamford to another season away from Stamford Bridge.

Unless there is a change in policy, Chelsea will be hanging on to Loic Remy meaning that Jose Mourinho will have three first-class strikers at his disposal next season in – Diego Costa, Rdamel Falcao and Loic Remy.

Bamford, who has scored prolifically wherever he has been sent on loan- MK Dons, Derby County and Middlesbrough, is at the stage where he needs regular football to continue his development something the youngster has himself stated.

The player cannot afford to remain at Chelsea and be fourth choice, gracing the bench on occasions but not getting a regular start which would seem to leave Chelsea with no choice other than to let him off the leash and loan him, or indeed possibly sell the player to another club.

My view is that the arrival of Radamel Falcao will see Bamford loaned to a rival Premier League club, Chelsea need to find out whether Bamford can operate at top-flight level, sending him back to a Championship club won`t serve any purpose.

And then, I guess, we`ll be having this same conversation this time next year!
