Several seasons ago, whilst playing for the Swiss club Basle, a young winger did enough to convince those in charge at Chelsea to sign him.

The player in question was the Egyptian international Mohamed Salah.

But it wasn`t a move made in heaven and Salah`s appearances for Chelsea were, at best, described as sporadic.

As a consequence, Salah became yet another loan statistic, shipped out after being considered not good enough for the first-team squad.

Eventually Salah signed for AS Roma and now, as we may have mentioned a week or so ago, is set for a move back to the Premier League.

Salah, according to the Mirror is set to revive his Premier League career with a move to Liverpool.
But Salah, now 24-years-of-age, isn`t going to come cheap with our referenced source inferring that Liverpool will have to pay Roma the sum of £35.5 million for the winger.

Now you, like me, may find the above more than a little surprising.

You may ask yourself two questions:

1 – Are Liverpool paying well over-the-odds for a player that looked far from being able to cut-the-mustard in the Premier League with us?

Or

2 – Did Chelsea give Salah enough time to prove his worth at Chelsea and just might have been jettisoned too soon?

I guess come the 2017 / 2018 season we`ll get the answer.

But please feel free to share your views on the above in our comments facility.
