With no live-action to keep us entertained, either now or in the immediate future, the mainstream media are treating us to a veritable feast of transfer speculation.

One player who is starting to feature prominently in the aforementioned transfer tittle-tattle is Boubakary Soumare, a 21-year-old who is currently on the books of Lille.

Soumare, a U21 international for France, is, according to The Sport interesting a raft of clubs which is said to include Real Madrid, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Manchester United and, of course, Chelsea.

The player is, clearly, highly rated.

But, with the Chelsea midfield already being of a very youthful nature with the likes of Mason Mount, Billy Gilmour, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and with Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic providing that little extra bit of experience, you have to ask whether Frank Lampard would be looking to spend what money he has available, elsewhere.

However, it is, here at Vital Chelsea, our duty to keep an eye on such speculation and we’ll endeavour to provide updates if any further news is forthcoming.
