Chelsea brushed aside Malmo with three goals in the second half, after a nervy first half performance. Chelsea started the game having looked like a team still feeling the hangover form Monday nights defeat to Manchester United. However, a much improved second half from the Blues put them through to the last 16.
Chelsea finally broke the deadlock with a counter attacking move engineered by N’Golo Kante with an impressive run and pass to Willian, who crossed into to Giroud for a tap in. Ross Barkley scored once again in this reverse fixture with a sublime free kick. Hudson-Odoi who was very impressive all game, score for the third time this season, with a run into the box and powerful shot which past the keeper to make it 3-0.
It was a much improved performance from Chelsea, who play Manchester City on Sunday in the Carabao Cup Final. The performances from the likes of Emerson and Hudson-Odoi will give Sarri a bit of thinking to do when selecting which team start against Manchester City. Fans will be urging for Sarri to start Hudson-Odoi and he proved his worth after a very impressive performance.
Next up is the Carabao Cup Final where Sarri will be looking to win his first major trophy in his career.
