It`s Friday, the weekend`s here and so`s the Friday night gossip. It`s been a quiet day though. Yesterday was all about strikers, the world was awash with chuckles over the possibility of Chelsea signing Peter Crouch.

The way it`s been spoken of in the media and indeed on social media is a bit disrespectful to the big Stoke striker. Crouch was a Chelsea supporter as a lad and also carried out ball-boy duties at Stamford Bridge. The fact he`s not everyones cup of tea takes nothing away from the fact he`s made his mark as a professional footballer. I say fair play to him.

There`s nothing new to report on a deal for Crouch today, other than it`s not been ruled out.Matt Law in The Telegraph outlines Chelsea`s latest transfer options. According to his article published this evening, not only is the Crouch deal alive, but so is the move for Roma`s duo of Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri, that despite reports earlier saying Dzeko wouldn`t be moving in this window.

The Emerson deal is, it seems, the hottest of all deals at the moment. According to the Italian media outlet Calciomercato, who have led the way with this story, Emerson will be allowed to head to London this weekend with his representatives to finalise the deal which is believed to be in the region of £20m plus add-ons.

On the subject of contract extensions Thibaut Courtois is getting close to signing that new contract. That according to the folks at The Sun who say the deal will make Courtois Chelsea best paid player when he pockets a cool £200,000 a week. If he`s true to his word Eden Hazard will be the next to sign on the dotted line.

Back to Chelsea`s quest for a striker and Twitter spat that has taken place on the social media platform between Jamie Vardy`s wife Rebekah and someone purporting to be a football agent, John Harriott.

The gist of the story is Rebekah Vardy didn`t want her name mentioning in connection with any move her husband may make. This follows the stream of abuse she received when Vardy, himself was linked with a move to Arsenal. The agent later apologised for involving her. What a good signing that would be for Chelsea though.

Vardy`s teammate Riyad Mahrez has seen no change in his situation. There has been no updates on any move he`s likely to make during this window.

Two ex-Arsenal players and now pundits Ray Parlour and Paul Merson believe Chelsea should be putting a bid on Arsene Wenger`s table for his out-of-favour striker Olivier Giroud. According to The International Business Times, the move would suit the Frenchman as he would not have to move away from London. Whether Arsenal would sell to Chelsea is, of course another matter. That`s all I`m afraid for tonight. Here at Vital Chelsea we have great respect for Chelsea fan Peter Crouch, but this did make me smile

Back tomorrow at 10pm.
